Perhaps it is because the word has become synonymous with the word punishment. In truth, punishment is not the same as discipline. The word discipline actually means to learn. It is derived from the Latin word ‘disciplinare’, which means to teach.
Discipline should begin in childhood. It is in childhood that we learn to respect ourselves and others, which enables us to become productive, responsible and fulfilled individuals. As adults, discipline helps us to achieve. In our business and personal lives we can go about...

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” That statement has been repeated by masses of children through the years and not a word of it is true. The truth is words can hurt and words can heal.
The spoken word is more powerful than we can imagine. The words we speak to our children, or partners and friends can damage or restore. Something that was said to us as a child can resonate in our hearts and minds till the day we die. What we say can have ramifications that we may never see, but can remain in our hearts...

It sounds like the most obvious thing in the world, but you’d be surprised by how many small to medium business owners don’t really know where their customers are coming from. Or if they do keep track of this information, they do it pretty poorly.
Understanding where your customers are coming from (or tracking your leads in marketing speak) is one of the pillars of effective business marketing. Why? Because it gives you an insight into which marketing strategies are working for you and helps you to spend your marketing dollars...

In our business and personal lives we are called on to make decisions many times, just in one day. I really think what is missing today in our decision making is wisdom to know the right way to go. Wisdom is downplayed so much in our society and yet we need it so badly. Our politicians are greatly lacking in wisdom and that is why so many bad decisions are coming out of Canberra. King Solomon thought a lot about wisdom, because he said that it is more valuable than gold and we would be wise to seek after it. ...
Wishing all our clients and friends a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New year.
We can't wait to see you all in 2012. It's going to be a great year!

We have just returned from a visit to our schools and orphanage in India. As we travelled around the slums in the quarry districts of Bangalore – where Mum and Dad work in the quarries breaking up the rock and granite, earning a dollar a day; Dad planting explosives to break up the rock, with his babies and children next to him – it made us very grateful that we live in a country of such prosperity.
While in India we were privileged to open another school for kindergarten children, taking in 100 children from the quarry...
It’s been 11 years since the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced in Australia and, while the initial public panic has evaporated, debate continues over the fairness of the Howard Government’s ambitious tax reform. So let’s take a look at the basics of the GST.
The GST is a tax on both goods and services at the rate of 10%. It was introduced in July 2000 to replace a range of inefficient state taxes and broaden the existing wholesale sales tax system, which gave unfair tax advantage to suppliers of services.
Everyone...

I don’t expect the newlyweds, William and Kate, will have too many financial concerns or a great need for budgeting. One of the main concerns for newlyweds though is money or a lack of it. It is important to start planning early, budget carefully and keep out of debt.
Don’t start a marriage with a lot of debt. Heavy debt and money worries are a good way to break up a healthy relationship or marriage. Early on in the relationship, even before taking the vows if possible, concentrate on paying off any personal debts so that you can go into...
Another year ends and we wonder what 2011 has in store for us. For those in flood, cyclone and fire affected parts of the country – and more recently earthquake devastated New Zealand & Japan, and the politically volatile Middle East - it has been an extremely tough start to the New Year.
We are all hoping that 2011 will be a successful year, with the world’s share markets picking up, helping us to recover from the last two years. Most analysts are saying that markets are improving and we have certainly seen evidence of this...
